Enviromesh, a leading provider of innovative meshed solutions, has successfully completed a significant gabion cladding installation for the prestigious National Agricultural Sustainability, Research and Innovation Centre (NASRIC) in Co. Wexford, Ireland.
The project, commissioned by the Agriculture & Food Development Authority, Teagasc, in the Republic of Ireland, highlights Enviromesh’s expertise in delivering high-quality, architecturally driven building facades that are both visually striking and deeply rooted in sustainable practices with locally sourced materials.

A Fusion of Expertise and Local Sourcing
Enviromesh was approached in March 2023 by Architects C.J. Falconer & Associates, to assist with the development of the facade for this pivotal national facility. The design called for a gabion cladding system, a sustainable choice that inherently reflects the traditional construction practices and geology of the surrounding area when filled with locally sourced materials.
In a move that strongly connects the facility to the entirety of Ireland, the gabion stone was meticulously sourced from each of the four Irish Provinces – Connacht, Leinster, Munster, and Ulster – before being mixed. This careful selection and blending of materials not only create a unique, varied aesthetic but also underscores the NASRIC’s national significance.
Seamless Supply and Installation
Appointed by contractor Robert Quinn Ltd, Enviromesh was responsible for both the supply of materials and the expert installation services for this high-profile project.
The installation, carried out in February 2025, comprised 154m² of robust 300mm thick 4mmØ Galfan® coated welded mesh gabions. Utilising the superior, durable finish of Galfan® ensures the longevity and structural integrity of the facade. The work was completed efficiently by two dedicated Enviromesh teams over a nine-day period, demonstrating the company’s commitment to timely and effective project delivery.

Following completion, Enviromesh were delighted with the finished building and proud to have delivered a facade solution that is technically excellent and perfectly aligned with the architect’s vision for a facility of national importance. The results demonstrate Enviromesh’s ability to manage the logistics of specialist, locally sourced materials and execute a flawless installation which is a testament to the expertise of the team.
This successful completion further solidifies Enviromesh’s reputation for providing bespoke architectural gabion solutions, combining technical precision with a dedication to quality and sustainability.
