The project site presented a significant engineering hurdle: weak in situ soils. To make matters more complex, the design team had to account for an entirely saturated foundation – a scenario that would lead many standard solutions to fail over time.
To combat these conditions, Enviromesh implemented several bespoke design adjustments to ensure structural integrity:
- Granular Foundation: A 0.6m deep granular base was installed to provide a stable platform.
- Geotextile Protection: The foundation was wrapped in a high-performance non-woven geotextile to prevent fine soil particles from washing away, a crucial step in professional erosion control.
- Premium Specification: We utilised over 600m³ of our 3.8/4.3mm BBA (British Board of Agrément) certified polymer-coated gabions.
