When approaching our recent project with VolkerFitzpatrick Ltd for a development in Essex, it was clear during the tendering process that a more adaptive solution was needed to ensure the structural engineering requirements could be met with a gabion retaining wall while also meeting budget constraints.
Through our expert in-house technical team, Enviromesh were able to propose a more proactive, efficient, indemnified design and therefore awarded the design, supply and installation contract. This was only possible due our unique business providing a fully comprehensive service and collaborative approach with customers, teams and merchant network.
Our comprehensive service solution allowed us to mitigate costs of granular fill with an inverted wedge of structural backfill rather than backfilling the entire excavation with class 6N. This more adaptive design approach achieved a reduction in cost, programme and truck movements while still ensuring effective, long-life results.
Enviromesh welded mesh gabions with a Galfan coating were used for the project providing long term investment benefits with an anticipated design life of over 50 years. Our gabions are covered by BBA certification and compliant with BSEN 10223-8.
