Trapezoidal gabions are manufactured so that the front and/or rear panels can be inclined. The units are assembled such that the front, rear and partitioning panels are fixed to the base.

To form the trapezoidal section, the partitioning panel width is based on the top dimension of the gabion unit. Flap panels may be supplied loose for fitting on-site or attached to the verticals during manufacture at their correct centres. When rotated to intersect the partitioning panels and jointed with one of the assembly systems provided, this forms the positive connection and trapezoidal shape.

There are two standard options available for the normal inclination of the rotated faces: the first being nine meshes vertically and either one or two meshes horizontally; or a second option, 13 meshes vertically and either one or two meshes horizontally. Widths at the top and base panels must be in multiples of the 75mm mesh opening.

To close off the outermost facing ends of the walls or to accommodate the 90° external corners, preformed trapezoidal end panels can be supplied to ensure clean aesthetic joints, which are designed to suit the trapezoidal configuration.
